Mediation

Mediation respects the individuals in a conflict by supporting their abilities to find their own solution. This win/win approach creatively increases the possible options for resolving a disagreement. This stands in contrast to the more traditional adversarial method of conflict resolution which often involves an outside person who imposes a solution that may not necessarily take the best interests of the involved parties into consideration. This method usually results in one or all parties walking away feeling as if they have lost something.

Mediation, a non-traditional, non-adversarial approach seeks to avoid this win/lose or lose/lose outcome. It is an excellent alternative to leaving a conflict to fester in non-resolution. It can be used effectively to resolve work related conflicts and many other interpersonal issues before they escalate to a point of permanent breakage of a relationship or to pursuit of a formal grievance or legal action.

Areas of Expertise as a Certified Mediator:

Employment Mediation – at or between any level within the organization
